E1 buoy finally communicating

It has taken us around 7 weeks, three separate trips and a visit to casualty to get the E1 buoy to finally start communicating with shore.  Congratulations to James and Chris and the crew of Sepia who went out today in deathly calm weather to carry out pretty extensive investigations on the aerial and wiring.  It turned out that there was a short on the aerial.  I was sat at home with dodgy mobile phone and an antiquated texting technique over a spare channel on the radio-modem to try and troubleshoot the communications.  It took us a while but at least we now have data.  Check out the website:

for the latest data.
